50 Million Trees and Counting: Trees for the Future

(www.plant-trees.org) This 8 minute video documents the work of Dave Deppner and Trees for the Future. Communities around the world turn to Trees for the Future for technical knowledge and planting materials so that they can bring degraded lands and struggling farmlands back to sustainable productivity. Since 1988, Trees for the Future (TFTF) has helped thousands of communities in Central America, Africa, and Asia improve their livelihoods and their environment by planting nearly 50 million trees in agroforestry and reforestation projects. Each year these trees remove over one million tons of CO2 from the atmosphere.

Exxon/Bush Admin Killing Polar Bears and Worse

This is a fantastic interview of John Passacantando who runs Greenpeace USA by Amy Goodman on DemocracyNow (01/08/07). And I cannot recommend enough visiting http://exxonsecrets.org/ to see how much money Exxon has spent (with considerable help from the White House) to turn global warming science into a debate. The length of the list of organizations receiving funding from Exxon is startling.

Sustainable Living Roadshow

The Sustainable Living Roadshow is a caravan of educators, entertainers and activists coordinating cross country tours that empower communities and individuals to utilize sustainable strategies for a healthier planet. Visiting university campuses and community events across the United States, the tour encompasses a fleet of non-petroleum based renewable fuel vehicles. At each stop, the caravan sets up experiential learning-village's, featuring workshops, speakers, and entertainment. The Sustainable Living Roadshow is a new paradigm in entertainment, education and business. It is designed to celebrate practical solutions to global and environmental issues created by our modern energy and food systems. The intention of the tour is to introduce communities to sustainable living strategies, as well as validate and promote existing efforts. Through pre-coordination, the tour orchestrates opportunities that infuse these local ventures with new information and increased awareness at the surrounding campuses and communities. Supporting the ideal of bioregionalism, sustainable measures such as renewable energy, sustainable food systems, and community development are integrated at the local level. Collectively, workshops, entertainment and service projects empower youth and community members toward meaningful participation. The events also feature evening celebrations to broaden reach, share messages and encourage participation from a diverse array of audiences.
